What is up with all the " unisex" names?

people are actually calling their little girls Tyler Teagan Kyle Ryan Brogan, Dylan Spencer, Addison and I think its frikkin insane!

Why can't people consider more elegant names that I have seen on here like Cecelia Luella Eloise Felicity Cora Angelica Loraine ?

What is so "cute" and "awsome" about those masculine names please explain?

What is up with all the " unisex" names?
Agreed. I don't like the "boy names on girls" trend either.

Rather than being a positive thing for concepts of gender norms, I think it just perpetuates the idea that women have to take on masculine characteristics to be successful. Girls should be raised to be proud of being female, and a beautiful feminine name with some history behind it is a good place to start. Differences between males and females should be celebrated rather than hidden, and women shouldn't be expected to become men in order to be accepted as equals.

Maybe I'm reading way too much into unisex names, but I really dislike gender neutrality in general!

/rant over! LOL
Reply:I hate top 100 of one sex on the others

I hate Dylan, Ryan, Logan, Tyler, Jayden for a girl

I hate Riley, Taylor, Avery, Addison, Ashley for a boy

I like some unisex names for girls

Ainsley, I think is cute, to girlie for a boy

Devyn, I know as many girls as boys, I think it's cute for either

Kacie, I love for a girl

Tegan, is the welch spelling for a girl name, it means beautiful

Riley, Avery and Taylor, just know to many girls with these names, I use to it.

Jordan, I know just as many girl as boy with this name

I like some unisex names for a girl

I think people go to far

Phoenix, Spencer, River, Hunter, etc are awful names for a girl

I hate names like Logan, Ashton, James, Michael for girls, these are boys names, not girl names
Reply:This is just my opinion...I have two girls Chloe and Morgan and I thing Morgan is kinda unisex so...I like unisex names because they don't allow you to pre-judge a person by their name only. For example, if you were an employer reviewing resumes, you may not realize it but you could pre-judge a person based on their gender or nationality. If the name is unisex, you have to look at the qualifications before you judge. That's why I did it.
Reply:This question is soo out played. Everyone has a different taste in names. Some like boyish unisex names (me, for example) and some like "elegant" names (which i like too)..and some like both, all and neither. I don't see what the big deal is. If it bothers you that bad and you don't like a name, don't name your child that.

So my question is: when are people going to realize that everyone has different taste and likes in names..what i name my child you might not like and i may not like the names that the next person picks out and so on..
Reply:Well I LOVE the name Ryan for a girl..I had that named picked out for a girl even before I met my Husband..but his name is Ryan so when we had a daughter I named her Zo毛 Ryan. I mean why do you care what people name their kids. You will have your own to name someday, and I'm sure someone won't like the name you chose either. BTW I love Tyler and Dillon for a girl.Kyle is cute too. I think they are edgy and sexy for a woman.
Reply:Because they are following the mindless heard of retards and frankly their IQ isn't that high, I know a couple of moms who "love love love" unisex names and they are dumbasses LOL These people can't even give a good reason why they like them instead they just start barking at you about how unisex names are so cute!
Reply:i love the whole unisex name thing.. i think its sort of breaking a boundry between the difference of men %26amp; women...

gots to admit there is some gender discrimnation out there still... this is just breaking down one of the walls.
Reply:I AGREE. I HATE the unisex names.
Reply:I dont particularily like those unisex names, but your other names are wayyyy worse!! They sound like old lady names
Reply:My little sister has friends with boy's names and it drives me crazy! I call them "he" and "him" and she has to correct me all the time!
Reply:well I like the name Taylor on girls
Reply:To each their own. My daughter's have unisex names (Hayden and Cameron). We like 'em and that's all that matters!
Reply:I think names like "Cecelia, Luella, Eloise, Felicity, Cora, Angelica, %26amp; Loraine" are all very ugly!

Remember: To each their own!!

You name your children what you want, and we will do the same, you may think that Cora is a beautiful name while it reminds me of Crap..

I'm sorry to be harsh but I think its insane that you ridecule anyone who likes these names but aren't we all here to help eachother out?

I am!

I agree that some are rediculous but everyone has different opinions..
Reply:Yea, I don't really like unisexs names except Morgan, Taylor, and Cameron, but I really think Addison is a girls name more than a boys name!
