Two Unisex names for two girls? wrong?

My 1st daughters name is Payton Laine. We are thinking of naming our second daughter Ashtyn Averie. Will it sound like we are stuck on using boys names for our girls?

Two Unisex names for two girls? wrong?
I love the name Ashtyn for a little girl. Despite all the negative feedback you got - keep in mind that only a couple decades ago - Jody, Jordan, Jamie, Casey, Toni, Riley etc. were considered boys names. Trends are created by people bold enough not to care what other people think. If you love the name, and are confident when introducing your daughter, most people wont even think to question her name.
Reply:About Payton: that name is now known for being a unisex name, and a very pretty one at that, so you're fine with having a girl named Payton.

Ashtyn: I actually don't know any guys with that name, but i know a fews Ashtyn girls. I just automatically think of a girls name when I see it.

Also, since you have "girly" middle names, it adds some femininity to them!

Beautiful names, and congrats!
Reply:Sounds like you wanted boys, but got girls instead -- not a good message to send.

You don't need flowery names, but they should still be able to be recognized as girls or they will forever hate their name (since they will ALWAYS have to spell it out for everything, because no one will know how it's spelled.)

Sorry to rain on your parade, but you asked...
Reply:I think they are both pretty names, and aren't too boyish at all. I think the spelling of Ashtyn like you have it is very feminine. I used be an artist for a company : www.mybambino.com . They personalize baby/children stuff and I've seen both of those names come thru for girls. I moved and am not involved with them anymore, but you should check out the website. There stuff is so cute :) Anyway..back to topic. ..I like the names and Congrats on your baby!!
Reply:I think both names are nice. I agree with the others about not using the 'Y' however. So many people are doing that now and it also just sets your daughter up for having to correct people when they try to write her name. My best friend is named Lyndsey. She constantly complains about the Y in her name and wished her mom would have just chosen the 'I' instead. She is a 40 something adult now ..

Just something to think about..
Reply:No, I don't think it's wrong. I love unisex names, and those are two of my favorites. Though, if you do use Ashtyn, I would try to avoid using Averie, because some people think it's a boy name as well (I don't, though) I'd use something more feminine for a middle name, like Rose or Victoria. Just a suggestion, but I think the name Ashtyn Averie is adorable! Good luck! :)
Reply:Who cares what it sounds like? If you like it then go for it.

Thanks for the thumbs down? What the hell? This doesn't really matter. I just want people to not care sooooooooooooo much what other people think. It's her baby. Name her or him what you want. I know I don't care what people think of my daughter's names. I like them and so does my husband. That's the cool thing about naming children........it's between the couple who created this new life.
Reply:Well I am not a fan of Ashtyn - it looks way too trendy, and not a serious name for a woman.

If you are going for a unisex name try something like maybe Skylar?

I also love Ryanne, and Tessa they are not too 'girly'.

Avery means 'elf ruler', and although I like the name the meaning of it stinks. ( http://babynames.com/name/avery ).
Reply:Frankly, I think so. But I absolutely despise unisex names. That's just the way I am. I just think they're so terrible.

I'd probably think that you and your hubby wanted boys.

I don't mean to offend you, I just don't like them.
Reply:I like both names. I don't really get the impression of a male when I first hear them either. They are both paired good with middle names. They're very different and I don't think it will sound like you're stuck on giving your children boys' names.
Reply:First thought in my mind when I hear Payton is Girl. Ashtyn is not a name I would associate with a girl. I went with a Unisex name as well and some people assume boy. (Adrien)Sorry.. But it seems that anything now a days is acceptable.
Reply:Ashtyn Averie is a beautiful name. Payton is cute too.

i think unisex names are unique and pretty. my cousin is having a baby girl in 4 weeks, and she decided to name her Rhyan Kayleigh.
Reply:No, like you said, they are unisex, not boy names, I think "Ashtyn" is more feminine, the only reason people consider those boy names is because of the celebs.
Reply:nope. i like both of those names and you shouldnt worry about other people thinking that. name your children what you want to name them. and those are beautiful names in my opinion that some people may not think of as boy names.
Reply:I'm not a big fan of boys' names on girls but if that's what you like that's fine. i don't think it will sound as if you're STUCK on boys names. more like you LIKE boys names, that's all.
Reply:I like unisex names and wish I given my daughter one. She has a feminine name and she hates her name. I think both names are unique and dignified. Go for it. Your daughter will thank you one day.
Reply:I know a lot of people have named their boys Ashtyn and its a beautiful name but I think it is more a girl name than a boy name so I think you are safe. I LOVE Payton for a girl too!
Reply:noooo those are pretty and unique!

I also like unisex names like charlie and jordan. I think they are sweet but other people dont.. I have the name britney and it is SOOOOOOOOO common and i hate it..
Reply:not at all. those are great names. at least your not using jennifer. like the world needs another one of those! its a beautiful name.
Reply:No not at all Payton is very cute on girls and where I live Ashtyn is normally a girls name. But I think the names you picked out are very creative.
Reply:I think both names are very nice.

It is funny because before I clicked the link to read the details of the question I was like "Payton would be a good name.." and then poof there it was!
Reply:No. I love the names! They are your kids and you can do what you want. If you want to name your girl George then do it! :)
Reply:Both of those names are beautiful!

I might steel them! jkjk

It's good girl and boy names.

It doesn't sound like your stuck on boy names!

Hey, but you should have a boy too! = }
Reply:No, I don't think so. I love both those names and when I think of them of think of them as girls names.
Reply:actually those are beautiful names and people will love it. People won't be mean like that cause those are boy and girl names. its like saying sam is only a boy name which could be a girl name 2. (samantha)
Reply:They don't sound like boys name. These days every name is interchangeable! Besides they are your kids and the names you like so who cares.
Reply:no, bc there are so many examples of that now, no one would notice. i would spell it ashton though. the Y thing is so overdone.
Reply:No, not at all. I consider both of those names to be more masculine than feminine. My cousin's two girls are name Hunter and River....now those sound like she was stuck on using boy names
Reply:No, those two names are truly unisex.
Reply:It's your child, who cares what others say?

What about Ashley instead of Ashtyn? That's also a unisex name :D
Reply:Now a days you can get by with almost anything.. I just don't reccomend apple or peach.. you know?
