Does anyone else like Unisex names?

These are what I can think of. Can you add any?

Does anyone else like Unisex names?
I do like unisex names ... but it seems that I like them more for girls than I do for boys. For example, we have two names picked out right now (we're pregnant) and for a girl it will be

Ryan Heather Ruth (middle names are after family members)

For a boy:

Wesley John Robin (again, after family)

Don't know why I am not a huge fan of them for boys, but I LOVE them for girls.
Reply:With the exception of Dana, Robin, Brynn, Erin, Shelby, Blair, Adrienne, Leslie, Kelley, and Kendall, I think all of the names you've listed are very masculine.

I also prefer Robin, Brynn, Dana, and Blair on boys.

I don't like boy names used on girls and I really don't care much for true unisex names, either.
Reply:I do not mind unisex name

I do have a rule of unisex names

If it's in the top 100 of the other sex, I would not use it

Hunter is in the top 100 of boys names, I would not name a girl Hunter

Lesley, Shannon, Ashley may be unisex names, but they are too common of a girl name for me to name a boy

Taylor is a top 100 girl name, I would use Tyler for a boy

I do not think some of your names are unisex, Johnny, Elliott, Dawson, Spencer are boys names

Piper is listed as a unisex name, but I would never name a boy Piper

Names you missed

Casey/Kacie, Shane(b)/Shayne(g), Hayden, Haley, Drew, Daryll, Lynn(I would not name a boy), Jo, Zaire, Anaya, Peyton
Reply:I like some of them, but not all. Some unisex names have dominantly become used for one gender (ie. Lynn, Shelby, and Ashley are pretty much all women while Addison, Jordan, and Shawn are all men.) When people put dominantly one-gendered unisex names on the other gender, it kind of bugs me because I don't like to see kids get picked on for their names. Things like Quinn, Lee, Jamie, and Dana are great though.
Reply:I like Hayden. My fiance and I just had a little boy and we were going to name him Hayden either way if it had been a boy or a girl.

It would have been....

Girl: Hayden Fern-Marie

Boy: Hayden Gary

We had a boy and ended up naming him Preston Gary because there were too many boys in our family with names that rhymed such as Aiden and Caiden.
Reply:These are masculine BOY's names. Not unisex names.

Renee is a unisex name.

I don't mind unisex names for girls, but I would never name a boy a unisex name.
Reply:i hate unisex names, well some of them are really cute, soem of them just should only stick to one. oh and the name kendall is my cousins name. lol
Reply:I love unisex names! Did you mention Addison? I can't think of any others, it looks like you've covered them all! (:
Reply:My daughter's name is Kacie and we planned to name her Casey if she would of been a boy.
Reply:you forgot ASHLEY(my name) - was originally a male name.....ex. "gone with the wind", but sounds more girly
Reply:No, not really. I don't think most of those names are truly unisex. I think when most of those names were created, they were intended to be used on a boy or a girl, and then somewhere along the line somebody decided to start using them on both. The problem with unisex names is that it is a trend--a name does not stay unisex forever. It will become more masculine or more feminine over time. Let's take Madison. Madison means "son of Maude" (which is a form of Matthew). Now, obviously, if you are a "son" then it was originally intended to be a boy's name. Right? But everybody is using it nowadays for girls. That's today's trend. A hundred years from now, Madison will change, it'll be more masculine or feminine or unisex. Names change as trends change. So I think to name kids unisex names, which are very trendy, is silly. If you really like unisex names that much, call your next son Elizabeth or Sarah. Start a new unisex trend. It'll be the next "happenin" thing, I'm sure.
