I don't like unisex names for boys but...?

I don't like unisex names for boys typically but I named my baby boy Tyler not thinking it was unisex. the more I look into it the more it seems unisex....what is your opinion??

I don't like unisex names for boys but...?
First of all, I found it ridiculous for anyone to call their daughter Tyler. It's like this guy I know called Nicol. WTF were his parents woundering. How about this girl in Ottawa named, are you ready, Umbrella. Her parents were from Mexico and when they heard the word for the first time, they decided to name there daughter after it. Some people just dont think half a second on the long lasting effect that names have on people who have to wear them.

As for your son, Tyler is an alright name. But, name me one little Tyler who was'nt a little pain in the wazoo groing up? My wife an I spent months thinking for a name that would be both beautifull and soft enough to give a good start for our daughter. We are given 9 months to think of the name that will follow our children for there entire lives. I cant understand why people don't take advantage of this time to stop trying to conger a Picasso of a name like Page or freekin' Umbrella and simply keep it nice and simple.

I have a cousin called Alex.....and she's a girl!?! Or my neighbour, his name is Kelly!!! My condolences to all those poor people.

;)
Reply:My opinion, it is a boy's name. Doesn't even sound unisex to me. :)
Reply:I knew a girl named Tyler but she was the only one. Everyone else was a male! Taylor is a girls name though!
Reply:Tyler is masculine, it's a boy's name. It's not unisex, nor should it be used on a female.

Taylor is also masculine, being an occupation and surname.
Reply:my friends name is tyler i think it's really cute for a girl and really cute for a boy but more common for boys
Reply:Personally i think ANY name can be unisex!
Reply:Don't worry.

Yeah, it's slightly feminine IMO...Tyler actually is listed as a unisex name in some online databases although I've seen a female Tyler only once...she was my husband's coworker's niece and ended up becoming a hooker. o_O
Reply:sounds like a boy
Reply:I think that its rare for it to used on girls. If you like it I'd use because I think its still a masculine name. :)
Reply:tyler is totally a guy name. =]
Reply:Tyler is a boy name I think, Taylor is a different story. So I think that you picked a good name Tyler.
Reply:i've never heard of a girl named tyler. unless you are talking about taylor
Reply:I've never heard of any female Tylers.. I think of it as only a boy's name
Reply:not really now if it was taylor yes
Reply:Tyler is a total guy name!

i love the name Tyler.

Taylor...that's unisex

but not Tyler
Reply:I only know of one girl Tyler but she spells it Tyla. More feminine i think. I know plenty of boy Tylers tho and it is def. a boy-dominant name.
Reply:I associate the name Tyler with being a name for a male. Taylor, however, I believe is a quite common name for either sex.
Reply:i have never considered tyler to be a girl's name and i doubt many people have. tyler seems to be a well known boys name to most people.
Reply:I knew a girl named Tyler. If you like a name you like it, so what if its unisex? It's not a name I'd chose for a little girl but whatever, I've heard way worse.
Reply:I think Tyler is a male name, I do not know any female Tylers but Taylor is a female version of Tyler.

Hope I helped!
Reply:Tyler is most definitely a boys name.
