What names that are unisex, that should not be unisex names, they should be girl names only.
I cannot believe these names are unisex, they are girl names only, and it would be mean to name a boy these names.
Madison
Morgan
Addison
Laken
Stacy
Hayley
Teagan
Peyton
Aubrey
Kelsey
Harper
Willow
Piper
Aspen
Lindsay
Ashley
Story
Kendall
Courtney
Ariel
I'm sure there are many more, this all I can think of for right now.
Presley - Presley is not to bad for a boy, but still like it better for a girl.
Names that are unisex that I like for both boy and girl are...
Riley
Hayden
Taylor
Bailey - I still like it better for a girl, but it's fine for a boy too.
Names that are unisex that are relay girl names?
Ashley. Like the guy from that boy band ashley parker angel. Should only be a girls name! And jesse too!
Reply:Just because you feel these are girl names doesnt mean they are. I actually like the names Ashley, Morgan, Kelli, Brooklyn, Bailey and Stacy. That name is soooooo overdone, I dont think anybody has heard that name for a while but i hate it for a girl. Some names like Jordan, Hayden, Presley, and Aubrey are truely unisex.
Reply:None of these should be ONLY girl names. They are unisex, which means they fit both genders.
In particular, I myself categorize them this way:
Madison- Boy
Morgan- Both
Addison- Boy
Laken- Both
Stacy- Girl
Hayley- Girl
Teagan- Both
Peyton- Boy
Aubrey- Girl
Kelsey- Girl
Harper- Both
Willow- Girl
Piper- Girl
Aspen- Both
Lindsay- Girl
Ashley- Girl
Story- Both
Kendall- Both
Courtney- Girl
Ariel- Girl
Brooke- Both
Brooklyn- Both. It's a place. Places have no genders. What makes you believe a place is feminine?
Kennedy- Both.
Noel- Boy
Noelle- Girl
Presley- Both
Hayden- Boy
Taylor- Boy
Riley- Both
Bailey- Both
Honestly- who are you to say what constitutes as a boy or girl name?
Reply:I agree! lindsay, Courtney and Ashley are definitely meant to be girls' names. [At least, in today's society.] It would be torture to name a boy these names!
Reply:Jody.
Brooklyn is actually a boys name.
I prefer Bailey for a boy.
Reply:My child will be named teigan no matter what sex it is. Teigan Gregory *my partners fathers name or Teigan Maire * I know it's spelt weird but it is how my partner and all her sisters spell their middle name
Reply:I think Kim, Leslie and Tracy are sad excuses for men's names. They are definitely made for women.
Reply:lol, i know someone named Tracy.. that is bad...
I think Jordan is a boy name but here u can see many girls with this name.
Dawn
i think brooke is weird for boys
Reply:oh you forgot jordan in there. my name is taylor jordan, suchhh an unambiguous name it drives me crazy.
Reply:Also Eden and Mica,
Reply:Just because a name is more commonly used for females now, does not mean it was always that way.
Madison - means SON OF Maud/Matthew's SON...that's not a 'made up meaning', it's what this SURNAME actually means
Morgan - a variant of an old masculine Welsh name
Addison - means SON OF Adam...again, not a 'made up meaning' but the true meaning of this SURNAME
Laken - this is a made-up name so I guess it can go for either, it's pretty horrid IMO
Stacy - nickname for the masculine Eustace...only rarely used
Hayley - ever heard of Haley Joel Osment? It's only rarely used on boys anyways
Teagan - another Irish surname...surnames are generally more masculine than feminine but I agree that this one is most commonly used on girls
Peyton - originally male; now (unfortunately) more commonly female
Aubrey - common for males in the middle ages; a Norman French form of Alberich - now most often feminine
Kelsey - an English surname; I'd say only rarely given to males (but hello? Kelsey Grammer!)
Harper - an English surname for one who made harps; Harper Lee (the reason most people use this) chose the name for it's masculinity, she believed her book would be more successful if people believed a male had written it. Her real first name was Nelle.
Willow - can't say I've ever heard this for a boy...
Piper - another surname; it was popularized as a girls name thanks to Charmed
Aspen - nature names can usually go either way, I'd assume this was more common for girls though
Lindsay - again a Welsh surname that was originally used for males; it only became popular as a female name in the 1970's
Ashley - an English surname that was most commonly given to males up until the 1960's when it swang to the female side
Story - I don't even consider this a name...
Kendall - an English surname; traditionally male, now more commonly female
Courtney - another English surname; wasn't popular for females until the 1970's
Ariel - traditionally male up until the 1980's (thanks to Disney's the Little Mermaid)
Brooke - more common for girls; Brook is the usual spelling for males; another nature name that's a little ambiguous
Brooklyn - it's a city; it doesn't have a gender
Noel/Noelle - Noel is a male name pronounced 'nole' unless there's an umlaut over the 'e'; Noelle is the female variant pronounced no-elle.
Just because you don't remember a name being masculine, does not mean it wasn't. I agree that choosing some of these 'feminized' masculine names for a boy these days would be a bad choice but if a parent wants to choose it, who are you to judge?
Reply:Madison and Addison are boys names. They end in -son, which means son of. They are only considered really girly because every second parent has called their daughter one of the two, and society now says they are girl's names. Morgan is a boys name, it's masculine just like Aubrey, but have been planted on girls. Ashley, and Jamie too, have been spelled and re-spelled so many times, and given to both girls and boys, nobody even cares what gender it's supposed to be!
Kennedy, Jordan, Jesse, Toni etc are cute names that I think are unisex, as well as Ashley and Jamie and Hayden, Riley, Taylor, and Bailey. You obviously feel VERY strongly about this, and lucky for you, you can name your kids whatever the hell you want! And so can others, it's their choice. You don't need to lecture them and make them see your point.
Reply:Madison and Addison in my opinion should be boys only. They end in - son and Addison means SON of Adam. Madison means SON of Maude or Matthew. That should be enough for it to stay just a boys name. Yes, with nicknames Addie and Maddie are very girly but the original name seems so masculine to me. But thats just my opinion.
Morgan, Ashley, Kendall and Aubrey all started out as very popular boy names. But i just cant picture them on a boy now a days because they are so popular with girls. All you other girl unisex names should just stay girl names.
Riley and Hayden seem so boyish to me i cant picture it on a girl. Taylor and Bailey i don`t mind on either gender though.
