What do you think of unisex names?

My cousins picked out Randi and Jamie for their children I guess because they were unisex names, both of them ended up being girls. I think picking out a unisex name would kind of take the fun out of picking out names. You only have to pick one name and it's ok for a boy or a girl, what fun is that?

What do you think of unisex names?
I don't really like the idea. I think that it would also be easier on the child not to have a unisex name. Though it might be more of a convenience to you, think about how the child would feel growing up. I think that it is less original and less personal. It also seems like the more beautiful names are not unisex. Unisex names are less creative and honestly don't seem to stand out.
Reply:That's cool.. but you should really think about it.

I would want to really put thought in it. :) That's fun.
Reply:I think that it is confusing and just inviting bullies.
Reply:Yes it does take the fun out of picking names
Reply:I like totally feminine names for girls.....

On General Hospital...there are two sisters named Maxi and Georgie.....for instance....and on Days, there's a Billie..and I really don'lt like that name for a little girl myself...There's also a Sami....

A few names might be okay as "unisex", like Ryan or Jorden, but otherise, I just can't get into it...I'm more traditional...never

a feminist or liberal...I like to see little girls with fem. names and to look feminine....instead of like tomboys...but that's me...
Reply:As a substitute teacher, I find it pretty annoying when I'm calling roll in a class I'm unfamiliar with and come to , say, Jordan. No answer. Anyone see him today? Laughter. We'll have to tell her you called her a boy..he he ha ha.
Reply:yeah, it's cool, but in my class, we had a ryan that was a boy and a ryan that was a girl.
Reply:The bad part about unisex names is that they wind up being girls' names by the time the guy whose parents were too lazy to think it through is old.

My cousin Marion is a case in point. Anyone know a Francis?
Reply:i HATE unisex names, and plus, i think randi is a guy name, and jamie is a girl name....
Reply:nto uh.

Jordan is a really cool name!!!!!!!!!
Reply:i like them it they are fun. especially Chris.
Reply:You'd really have to ask my mother about how much fun it is to pick out a unisex name. I personally like having a unisex name, you'd be surprised how people's response to me can change based on what sex someone thinks I am.
Reply:There is not many unisex names I like, however the ones I do like I like for girls because they are strong girls names, like Jordan, Dylan and Riley.
Reply:I don't like them.

Reply:I don't like it - I knew twin girls who had been given unisex names chosen before they were born - MIckey and Rickey. It was supposed to be cutesy, but sounded silly. For me, I have ideas of names that I like, but I can't decide completely without seeing and holding and spending at least a few minutes with my baby.
Reply:I love those names! Here is a sample:
