Hello! Below you'll find several lists of unisex names (or now-female names that were originally masculine). Some of these do sound very girly now, but they all were used for men at one time.
If you had to pick one name from each list for a son, which ones would you pick? Please choose one name from each group of four.
1. Evelyn, Shannon, Marion, Joyce
2. Jocelyn, Loren, Ariel, Kim
3. Aubrey, Jamie, Bailey, Brooke
4. Kelly, Ashley, Leslie, Stacy

Shannon, Reese, Dakota, and Bailey aren't that girly. Jared Leto's brother is named Shannon, there's a character on Malcolm In The Middle named Reese, I used to have a guy friend named Bailey, and I used to date a guy named Dakota.
They seem more like guy names, except Shannon, that's the only one that truly sounds unisex.

Unisex names please....?
Need something to go with Jaden. No, Jordan doesn't go with it since they both begin with J. (although I do like that name) I don't like Taylor, Ryan,Reece, Pat, Skylar or Lee. Yes, It has to be a unisex name since I'm naming my angel baby. Thank you for any good suggestions. Maybe someone knows of a good website that I haven't been to already.

Unisex names in decline? WDYT?
I saw this article yesterday.
http://www.babynamesgarden.com/unisexbab...
"n 1995 in the United States, 77 names ranked in the Top 1000 in popularity for both boys and girls, according to baby name data from the Social Security Administration. Of those 77 unisex baby names, 67 were “unique,” while 10 were variants, such as Devon, Devin, or Devan.
By 2005, the number of unisex, or androgynous, names appearing on male and female Top 1000 lists had shrunk to 64, including 53 unique names. That’s a drop of about 20% in unisex names over the decade.
The drop is surprising for a couple of reasons. For one thing, people often assume that as more “made-up” names (such as Rylee) enter the language, or as more “placenames” become baby names (think Dakota), more of these names are unisex. That may be true, but there simply aren’t that many “made-up” unisex names in the Top 1000, for either 1995 or 2005.
What did change between 1995 and 2005 were the names themselves. Of the 77 unisex names in 1995, fully 50% (38 names) lost their unisex identity by 2005. Discounting those situations where both names fell out of favor, the name more often moved to the male side of the table rather than the female, contrary to conventional wisdom about unisex names. "
What really surprised me is this last bit above - i.e. about males winning back names, which also seems contrary to what people generally say or assume.
WDYT?
Unisex names in decline? WDYT?
I'm surprised, too, by the trend away from unisex names, but after 30 years of unisex names, maybe young parents are again looking for something different. The current trend toward old-fashioned girls' names such as Sophia, Ava, Emma, Madeline and Isabella gives parents some "new" names that are graceful and feminine for their daughters. Women have more equal opportunities now than they did 30 years ago when parents might have felt that a "stronger" unisex or more masculine name might give them an advantage in the business/professional world.

Reply:Ashley: Female. Because I mostly hear that name used for females, and because most guys named 'Ashley' spell it 'Ashleigh'.
Tracey: Female. Same reason as the first, except for the spelling part.
Shirley: Female. Shirley temple. :-P
Drew: Other than Drew Barrymore, it's mostly used for males.
Reese: Even though there's Reese Witherspoon, it still sounds pretty masculine. And I'll never get past Reese from Malcolm in the Middle.
Terri: Female. Short for Teresa.
Blake: Male. Just because it sounds like a male's name; it's pretty masculine.
Toni: Male. Toni the Tiger! I've actually never met a female with that name...
Leigh: Never heard that name before. If it's pronounced 'lee', then I'd say male. Unless it was Leia...
Billie: Male.
Frances: Male. Again, Malcolm in the Middle. :-P
Robin: Sounds more like a female name, just because it's a bird.
Sidney: Girl. I've only ever met females with that name.
Dakota: Female. Dakota Fanning.

Terri- Female I went to school with a girl who spelt it like this I think of Terry as the Male name
Blake- Male, I know of no females with this name and it feels too masculine to be a girls name
Toni- Female, another one I went to school with. I think of Tony as the male
Leigh- Female as above, Lee is the male spelling
Billie- Female as in Bille Piper, Billy is the male spelling although I do know of a man named Billie (and it's not short for William)
Frances- Female, I think of Francis as the male spelling
Robin- Male. The female spelling is Robyn
Sidney- Male. Sydney is the girl from the scream films
Dakota- Female, I've never heard of a boy with this name.
Devon- Female. I know of a boy who spells it Devern
Jordan- Male. I know of a girl with this name and this spelling.
Jayme- neither. I would only ever spell it Jamie which I see as more masculine even though I know of a couple of girls with this spelling.
Pat- Male, because of Postman Pat, although it can be short for Patricia.
Charlie- Male as just Charlie, even though I know of two girl Charlies who were not called Charlotte.
Reply:Ashley - Female because of "Ashley Olsen"
Tracey - Female. I know a girl called Tracey/
Shirley - Female. The barmaid of Eastenders :D
Drew - Female. Drew Barrymore.
Reese - Female. Reese Witherspoon.
Terri - Female. Male is spelt Terry.
Blake - Female. Because of Blake Lively.
Toni - Male. I know a boy with the name Toni.
Leigh - Female. Derived from Leah?
Billie - Female. Billie Piper. Billy is more masculine.
Frances - Males. Frances Fisher from Hollyoaks.
Robin - Female. The bird is like small and pretty like a girl (:
Sidney - Male. Sydney sounds more Female.
Dakota - Female. Dakota Fanning.
Devon - Male. but only because of "Devin the Dude"
Jordan - Female. Jordan the glamour model.
Jayme - Female because i know boys with the name Jamie.
Pat - Female. Pat Butcher from Eastenders.
Charlie - Male. Charlie Slater from Eastenders.

Devon: Male.

I know Harley is a unisex name but do you think it is more suited to a boy or a girl?
I don't particularly like it but me and my partner were talking about unisex names while we discussing a name for baby no.3 and I always think that although they are unisex they are normally more suited too one sex than the other.
So was just wonder what everyone thought.
I personally think it is more suited to a boy.
I know Harley is a unisex name but do you think it is more suited to a boy or a girl?
I think A boy as well but its funny as I only know wee girl's who are named hardly but I definitely think unisex names are definitely more suited to one sex than the other.
Reply:Personally when I hear the name Harley I don't think of a person, I think of like a pet, or something. I really like the name Harlow though, but it kind of reminds me of the word harlot and that's probably not a good thing, oh yeah anyways. I don't really think that's a good name for a person, I would never name my kid that. %26amp; I know you said you didn't really like it, but I can't really think of whether I think it sounds more like a girl or a boy because I don't really see it as a persons name.
Sorry that was way too long haha.

Reply:I always think of Harley as a boy because it reminds me of biker men. You know how that is! lol I don't care for the name but I don't hate it. I can definitely see it on a girl too so but I'd call it a boys name.
